Release 26/01/2026 - Reveal progress with Monitors in Distil Diagnostics

  • Updated

The Monitor feature in Distil Diagnostics has been enhanced to support historical analysis and clearer return on investment (ROI) tracking.

This means that users can check the progress of live Monitors, see how completed Monitors performed and understand the ROI of using Distil Diagnostics in the context of extra covers and revenue generated.

This release is designed to help teams assess and communicate the impact of marketing or promotional activities undertaken to improve covers and revenue during selected weeks.

Monitor dashboard focussed on Forecast progress

The Monitor dashboard has been enhanced to showcase the progress of each Monitor - which relates to the performance of a venue, service and week.

For each Monitor, the dashboard now displays the Expectation (target) set by the user, alongside the initial forecast as it appeared on the day the Monitor was created.

With the latest changes, users can follow the progress of that Monitor using additional metrics:

  • Number of Tracked Days
  • Change in Forecast
  • Actual covers (or Revenue if selected)
  • Actual performance against Expectation

Users can also toggle between covers or revenue within the dashboard.

Tell the story of progress against Expectations

The Monitor dashboard provides a structured view of how performance evolves over time, from the point of creation through to completed weeks in the past.

As tracked days increase, changes in forecast and actual performance are recorded against the Expectation. This creates a clear timeline showing whether performance is moving closer to, meeting, or exceeding the target set for the monitored period.

By preserving the original Forecast and Expectation alongside daily changes and final actuals, the new Monitors dashboard supports consistent evaluation of whether a venue and service are on track during the live week, and how outcomes compare once the week has completed.

Completed Monitors retain this historical view, allowing comparison across weeks and providing a record of performance improvement over time. This makes Monitors ideally suited for demonstrating progress, validating the impact of activity, and supporting post-period reporting on covers and revenue outcomes.

The Monitor table has also been updated with a cleaner layout and column-level sorting. Users can sort the full dataset by a single column at a time, with clear indicators for sort direction. Smart secondary sorting keeps results stable and meaningful, while a sticky footer shows totals at all times. Rows remain clickable for quick access to Monitor details.

Note - for Monitors that are live (the week is still in the future), actual data will not be shown until after the week is completed.

See clear ROI in terms of covers and revenue

The top right of the Monitors dashboard features two ROI metrics - additional revenue and covers generated from the Monitors in the time period selected.

Being able to view additional covers and revenue generated over the monitored period provides a clear measure of impact beyond baseline performance.

By comparing actual outcomes against the original Expectation and forecast, Monitors make it possible to quantify incremental gains attributed to activity undertaken during the monitored weeks.

This supports consistent ROI assessment across venues, services, and time periods, and creates a reliable reference for evaluating which actions contributed most effectively to improved covers and revenue performance.
