Release 17/06/2026 - Connect actions and outcomes more clearly in Distil Diagnostics

  • Updated

This release introduces Annotations in Distil Diagnostics, helping teams connect activity with changes in forecast, cover and revenue performance.

It also includes several workflow improvements designed to optimise navigation and make key actions easier to complete.

Introducing Annotations

Annotations are now available in Distil Diagnostics to help teams record the actions, changes and context that may affect cover and revenue performance.

Annotations are notes that can be used to capture activity such as marketing campaigns, menu launches, layout changes, operational changes or any other action that could influence performance.

This creates a shared record of optimisation activity across the estate, reducing the need to piece together context from emails, documents or individual team knowledge.

Log activity with category, date and notes

Annotations are available from the left-hand panel, above Monitors.

Each annotation includes three fields:

  • Category - Marketing, Reservations, Operations or Other
  • Date of action - defaults to the current date, with any date available from the calendar
  • Actions / Notes - a free-text field for recording the action or context

Once added, the annotation appears in the Activity Timeline straight away. The form then clears, ready for another annotation.

Activity Timeline creates a shared record

The Activity Timeline shows Annotations in reverse chronological order, with a count shown at the top.

Each annotation includes:

  • a coloured dot and category label
  • the action date
  • the full note
  • the author’s name

Notes can include emojis.

Annotations are shared across the team, so activity can be viewed by everyone with access to the account.

Link Annotations to Monitors

Annotations can be linked to one or more Monitors, making it easier to connect specific actions with the restaurant, service and week being tracked.

When adding an Annotation, select Link Monitor to open the Monitor picker.

The picker supports:

  • Search by restaurant name
  • Monitored weeks quick filters: Next 5 weeks (from your annotation's date, default), Last 5 weeks (prior to that date), or a custom calendar range
  • Multi-select with checkboxes; link as many Monitors as apply
  • Hit Done to confirm

Annotations can also be linked to Monitors retrospectively. Existing links can be edited at any time, allowing Monitors to be added, removed or updated as context changes.

Annotations now visible on the Monitor list

The Monitor list now includes an Annotations column between Tracked Days and Change in Forecast.

Each row shows the number of annotations linked to that Monitor. Rows with linked annotations can be hovered over to preview the action date and note without opening the Monitor.

The column can also be sorted. When sorting is activated, Monitors with the highest number of linked annotations appear first.

Annotation markers added to Monitor Details

Linked Annotations now appear on the Daily Re-Forecast chart in Monitor Details.

Annotations are shown as diamond-shaped markers below the day axis. Each marker is placed on the action date, rather than the date the Annotation was created, so activity can be compared directly with forecast movement.

Hovering over a marker shows the category, action date, creator and full note.

This gives teams a clearer view of what happened, when it happened and how the forecast changed afterwards.

Flow Control now shows the Cover Pacing Limit value

The Capacity Report now shows the absolute Cover Pacing Limit alongside the Flow Control percentage.

Previously, Flow Control was shown as a percentage only. This made it harder to see the actual cover limit behind the percentage.

With this update, both the percentage and the underlying Cover Pacing Limit are visible in the Capacity Report, giving more context when reviewing pacing settings.

The Service filter is now sticky

The Forecast page now remembers the selected Service filter.

Users can select any combination of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The selected services persist when switching Forecast tabs, changing weeks, navigating away from Forecast and returning, or logging out and back in.

The selection is saved per user and per organisation.

For new users, all services are selected by default.

Key UX improvements

Smoother access from Weekly Report emails

Navigation from Weekly Report email links into Distil Diagnostics has been improved. Link destinations are now preserved through login, so the relevant restaurant and week still open after signing in. If the link points to a different organisation, an unavailable organisation, or an out-of-range week, Diagnostics now shows clearer guidance instead of a generic error.

Monitors can now be created from the Capacity Report

Monitors can now be created directly from the Capacity Report. This removes the need to return to the Forecast page before setting up a Monitor.

Capacity Report navigation improved

Capacity Report navigation has been improved across dates and time slots. Users can now swipe through time slots or use the calendar selector to jump to a different date, without returning to the Availability Scan each time.
