Daily Insights: Winners & Losers Thursday

  • Updated

Which of your products are flying off the shelves, and which products are clogging up the works? Thursday's card is where you see the week’s big winners … and losers.

We show you which products are moving up and down in popularity, and which products are bought repeatedly by the same Customer, suggesting that there may an opportunity to move this Customer or product to a subscription model.

Our Thursday card focuses your attention on your products and how they are performing.

All of the information in this card is for orders where the Customer has paid (products and revenue from unpaid orders are excluded).

If you're looking at this insight card via Distil (and not via Shopify), then you will see some additional information at the top of the page. For a guide to this information, read our article on Daily Insights. Remember that the information at the top of the page is current now (as you view the page), while the information in the card is current as of the date of the card.

This Week

Word Cloud

Our product word cloud provides a visual summary of this week's winning products, making it easy to spot your top performers at a glance. The larger the text, the better the product has sold. It's a simple as that.

Visual learners love our word cloud. If you're a visual learner then you tend to process information more efficiently when you can see it rather than read it.

Different Products sold

This is a measure of the strength and depth of your product catalogue. This is the number of different products sold in the last week.

Top Climber

This week's hero product! Take a look at the Movers and Shakers table below. Your Top Climber is the product that has leapt the largest number of places since the previous week.

Top Faller

This week's zero product... Take a look at the Movers and Shakers table below. Your Top Faller is the product that has sunk the largest number of places since the previous week.

Movers and Shakers

These are your golden products, your top performers. This is a list of the products that have sold most often in the past week, ranked 1 to 10 by the number of orders for the product. The total revenue from each product is also included, along with the position change since the previous week.

For the position change, if a product was at number 2 last week but is number 4 this week, then the position change will be: 2 - 4 = -2, meaning that that the product has slipped two positions.

All of the of the products that didn't make the top 10 are summed up in the last line: Others. We've included this so you can get a sense of the relative importance of each of the your top products versus your total number of orders and revenue.

If a product is flagged with New, then this product has no prior sales (as opposed to this being their first entry into the top 10).

Subscription Opportunities

Subscriptions mean more to your business, and your investors, than a one-off purchase. A subscription validates your product and says that this Customer trusts your business.

Our Subscription Opportunities table highlights products that have been purchased more than once by the same Customer in the past three months. These products are ripe for the creation of a subscription offering, but also give valuable insight into the products that are bringing your Customers back time and again.

The Repeat Rate is the percentage of orders for this product that were repeat orders by the same Customer. For example, if a Customer ordered the same product four times in the past three months, then the repeat rate would be 75% (where the first order is not a repeat).

Repeat value is the revenue value of these repeat orders.

For the position change, if a product was at number 2 last week but is number 4 this week, then the position change will be: 2 - 4 = -2, meaning that that the product has slipped two positions.
