Create a Connection to Dotdigital

  • Updated

This article explains how to connect Distil to Dotdigital so that you can push Customer, Product, Content and Order data from Distil into Dotdigital, and pull new Customer data back into Distil.

Before you start you'll need to create a new API user within the Dotdigital platform. Log into Dotdigital, and follow the steps in this Dotdigital article on creating an API user. Make a note of the API user email address (generated by Dotdigital) and also your password.

Login to your Distil account and navigate to Settings > Integrations. In the bottom left of the view, under Add Connection, click the Dotdigital logo to bring up the New Dotdigital Connection view.

Enter a meaningful Title and a brief Description for the connection. You can change these values after you've created the connection. In the Username field enter the email address for the Dotdigital API user that you created in the first step above, then enter the Password.

Enter a name for your Content and Product catalogues as you want them to appear in Dotdigital. This is covered in more detail in our article on pushing data into Dotdigital.

Before you can save and continue you need to ensure that the connection is working. Press the Test Connection button and wait for Distil to authenticate with Dotdigital. If everything is ok you will see a Connection Verified message slide across the notification area, and the text Test Connection will change to Connection Tested.

Go ahead and click Save Changes.

Distil is now connected to Dotdigital and is available to both pull data from Dotdigital into Distil, and push Customer Segments, Content data, Product data and Order data back out into Dotdigital.
